2006 Parent Corton Blanc

By on June 30, 2008 #asides

Elevaged in 60% new oak. A fine nose that’s deep and waxy. A real mouthful of concentration that lingers

very long in the finish. The acidity seems a little too understated, but comes through in mouthwatering

fashion at the end. Anne Parent suggests a good match with Turbot or grilled sea scallops!

2006 Parent Corton Renardes

By on June 30, 2008 #asides

The aromatics are a little narrower than the preceding wines, but in the mouth it’s full, tannic, showing

super acidity and real extension of the fruit before slowly dying in the finish. Clean and quite

impressive.

2006 Croix (des) Corton-Charlemagne

By on June 30, 2008 #asides

Medium yellow. The nose is wide and shows a complex mix of fruits; pineapple, melon, lemon and a white blossom. Rich concentration with real intensity in the mid-palate and nicely-judged acidity. The flavours in the finish start slightly savoury and fade in a creamier way. Very young but certainly much more concentration that the two pulignys which were drank either side of it…

2006 Lambrays Clos des Lambrays

By on June 30, 2008 #asides

About 26 hectolitres per hectare. The nose is wide and mineral with fine herbs. Understated, mouthfilling power that manages to expand even further on the mid-palate, becoming ever-more complex as it does so. It’s long and reasonably tannic – though the tannins are very soft – Super! The last drops in the glass are finally giving up a beautifully pure cherry note. Already sold-out at the domaine.

2006 Long-Depaquit Chablis La Moutonne

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

The nose is deeper, rounder and more forward. Full-packed and well textured without being too fat. The fruit could have a little more focus and width but with a long, very mineral finish.

2006 Clos Frantin Grands-Echézeaux

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

A forward nose with a super mix of red and black fruit with an undertone of spice. Complex, well-textured with a very understated length. No fireworks today, but beautiful fruit.

2006 Lupé-Cholet Chablis Les Blanchots

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

There’s a little hidden depth to the nose overlayed by faint citrus notes. The entry is rather soft – no attack – but it fills out nicely in the middle and brings a good length of finish – though it seems mainly of savoury, oaky elements.

2006 Clos Frantin Clos de Vougeot

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

An impressive, layered nose with hints of coffee. Full-packed palate with plenty of structure. There’s more here, both dimension and structure. It’s certainly a little austere, but it’s not that tough and it is very, very impressive.

2006 Moreau J. et Fils Chablis Vaudesir

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

Reticent aromatics; flowers and soap though eventually a few deeper tones. Very nice acidity and minerality despite a quite soft entry – really gets going in the mid-palate though. Very good length.
