Mischief and Mayhem

2005 Mischief and Mayhem Gevrey-Chambertin

By on March 31, 2007 #asides

The nose is Wide with a deep and interesting fruit centre, it’s faintly peppery with a pinch of Gevrey earth too – give it time and it becomes fuller and also gives glimpses of red fruits. The palate is wide and with good concentration. There are plenty mildly grainy tannins grabbing the inside of your mouth, but this is a forward forward ripe and nice wine which can easily balance the structure. Certainly not elegant, but fun!

2005 Mischief and Mayhem Meursault

By on March 31, 2007 #asides

The nose is high-toned and fresh with a faint citrus edge. If the nose doesn’t should ‘Meursault’, the palate is fully flavoured with excellent Meursault dimension. This classy and concentrated wine is fresher than many 2005’s and heartily recommended.

2004 Mischief and Mayhem Puligny-Montrachet

A fresh, interesting and rounded nose. In the mouth the overall impression is also one of roundness, well-textured, with well-endowed concentration that bursts through on the mid-palate. Tasty and interesting.

2004 Mischief and Mayhem Meursault

Pear fruit plus an extra density on the nose vs the villages Puligny – though perhaps a little tighter. Lovely, wide fresh palate. The acidity is much more forward, indeed racy vs the Puligny, giving the impression of extra length, but without that wine’s late kick of concentration. The acidity masks the weight of this a little.
