A waxy, dense and impressive nose. Lovely minerality and super acidity that pushes long into a creamy finish. There’s a great extra dimesion in the mid-palate too. Just so communicative today – very lovely.

2005 Boisset Jean-Claude Puligny-Montrachet Champs Gains
This was a very dry vineyard in 2005 which resulted in only 2.5 barrels of wine instead of closer to 7 – so no new oak. Because there was little juice in those harvested grapes Grégory had to use a very light pressure on his press. The nose is compact but quite deep. In the mouth it’s much more linear than the last wines but there’s richness to the texture and a tight core of fruit at its centre. This is very, very long. Bottled unfiltered with a slight fining. Another excellent wine.
2004 Bouzereau Michel Puligny-Montrachet Champs Gains
Just a little darker yellow than I would like for a ‘new’ wine. Delicate nose with a hint of green pea (like a red in malo) that eventually becomes more golden and honeyed. Nice texture, balance and an interesting length, but this wine is lacking both density and dimension vs Lamy’s 04 St.Aubin Remilly. A nice enough wine, and despite its reasonable cost, if this bottle is representative it is some way short of showing value.
