2000 Fourrier Griotte-Chambertin

By on February 29, 2004 #asides

Medium cherry colour. Again a high toned, slightly floral nose complimenting a red cherry base. Tasted together with Drouhin’s and Chézeaux’s 2000, this wine is less obviously fat, but it seems that there is a slightly mineral expression. Very pure with just a trace of astringency to the tannin. A beautifully pure and balanced 2000.

Medium-plus cherry. Whilst quite reticent, this is still a nose to fall into. Lovely very pure fruit with medium-plus tannins and very good acidity. I liked this a lot – Fine.

2001 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Combe aux Moines

Medium-plus cherry red. Red fruit nose with well integrated background oak. Stronger tannin than the ‘Les Goulots’ with good acidity and fruit. Very good.

2001 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots

Slightly paler cherry red. Cherry, strawberry and raspberry on the nose. Good fruit and tannin with excellent acidity pushing the finish long. This is very good.

2001 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Echézeaux

Medium-plus cherry colour with a hint of purple. Nose has integrated sweet oak. Good fruit here, medium tannins and good acidity. A nice wine.

1999 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

By on November 30, 2002 #asides

Deep cherry colour with purple edges. The nose has toasty oak still evident but behind there is a sweet fruit compote, more black than red plus a touch vanilla. Really excellent concentration of fruit on the palate, that seams to keep following the lingering acidity. The tannin is there but in the background. An above average ‘village’ wine from an excellent vintage, also great to drink right now.
