DSC03463A tasting of producers’ 2012s by the Union des Grand Crus de Chablis, Chablis 16 March, 2014.

Pascal Bouchard, Chablis Blanchots
Modest aromas. Clear density on the palate, it has just a little padding too. Absolutely lovely flavour. Yum!

JM Brocard, Chablis Les Preuses
Here the nose is a hint saline. The palate is wide though the flavour starts a little less impressive than the P Bouchard. The intensity grows and with it my liking for the flavour. In the end this is quite tasty.

Chablisienne, Chablis Château Grenouilles
Fresh with a very pretty nose that is also faintly floral – lovely. Full in the mouth with some dry extract and fine intensity. Super.

Jean Collet, Chablis Valmur
Here is a very nice aromatic of both depth and width. There’s CO2 on the tongue but it’s obviously fresh and intense. I like very-much the mid-palate flavour. Yum!

Drouhin-Vaudon, Chablis Le Clos
This has fresh and wide aromas though modest depth. Super minerality; lovely, lovely flavour – this is super. Also the finish with a twist of dry extract too.

Nathalie & Gilles Fevre, Chablis Les Preuses
A pretty and floral nose. Again a little CO2 to disturb my tongue – behind, this wine seems a little softer, yet with super mid-palate concentration and interest.

William Fevre, Chablis Vaudesir
The nose is fresh and another with a floral dimension – rather pretty. Wide, dynamic, yet silky too. Lovely mid-palate flavour and concentration.
Laroche, Chablis Bougeurots
The nose has faint florals and a nice width. Full, concentrated and with a growing intensity. Excellent dry extract in the mid-palate plus a super finish.
Long-Depaquit, Chablis Blanchots
Here the nose is wide but with a faintly spicy edge to it. Fresh, rather direct in approach. Mineral and intense with a super finish. IT’s its own character but I find it super.

Domaine des Malandes, Chablis Les Clos
A fine nose, only perturbed by some creamy oak – whatever, it’s very inviting. Wide and round. Some extra (probably) wood notes, though this is very tasty and concentrated if not entirely classic.

Louis Moreau, Chablis Valmur
A high-toned nose with some emphasis on lime-skins and almost asparagus (I should have rechecked to make sure it wasn’t an 11!). There’s salinity and concentration, faint CO2 and some intensity – but I still find the nose at odds. I’m a fan of the flavour and finishing concentration though.

Servin, Chablis Bougros
The nose is fresh and quite pretty, though modest compared to most here. Full, round and quite mineral – the growing intensity of flavour is lovely. Good dry extract in the finish. A lovely wine.

Simmonet-Febvre, Chablis Les Preuses
Fresh, pretty and wide – more limited depth. Dynamic, tasty and with good concentration. Lovely intensity in the mid-palate and in the finish too. Yum!

Gérard Tremblay, Chablis Vaudesir
Another that is fresh, wide and pretty but with limited aromatic depth. Here is a concentrated core and slowly growing intensity – though in a slightly different form to most. Finishes beautifully.

JC Bessin, Chablis Valmur
The nose is fresh, wide, fine though not so deep. A little CO2, super intensity and a growing acidity drives the finish. Very lovely wine.
