Tasted in Vosne-Romanée, 17 March, 2014.

2012 Vosne-Romanée
The nose starts rather tight, only slowly letting slip some dar-red fruit. The fruit in the glass is lovely though with a decent grip of tannin and a very tasty finish – yum!

2012 Vosne-Romanée 1er Beaumonts
Higher tones and some flowers and spice too. Soft, welcoming and beautifully complex. I always like this wine!

2012 Vosne-Romanée 1er Les Chaumes
Nice depth, very Vosne. Lithe, narrower, almost mineral. Grows wider and shows lovely fresh-finishing flavour.

Daniel Rion, Echézeaux
High tones and plenty of herbs and spice. Depth and texture – though there’s a faint reduction too. Lovely lingering flavour. Very tasty.

2012 Clos de Vougeot
From Petits Maupertuis.
Rather spicy. After the Echézeaux this is rather more lithe, muscular and concentrated. The structure is much more obvious, but this is a lovely Clos de Vougeot – impressive!
