Les Blancs…

2013 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits
Only 25 hl/ha, racked last week. Ecocert Bio vines located in Chaux. No batonnage.
The nose is fresh and very pretty. A faintly reductive depth and fine texture – really excellent with super depth of flavour in the finish.
2013 Auxey-Duresses Les Crais
From 50 year-old vines that delivered 3 barrels.
A fresh nose with a fine ripe core. Wider and with very good concentration – lots of super depth and good length. Excellent!

2013 Beaune 1er Vignes-Franches
These 80-90 year-old vines produced less than 10 hl/ha due to hail – that said, the hail in 2014 ensured that there was no wine.
A hint of SO2 but aromatically fresh and intense. Lovely width and fine flavour. Super!

2013 St.Aubin 1er En Remilly
Racked just 4 days ago.
Wide and quite pretty aromas with limited depth. Lithe and with fine energy – a clear extra length here too. Super!

2013 Meursault Le Limozin
Bottled in November as the malo was quite early. 80 year-old wines vines planted North-South.
Rounder in the mouth, transparent and with lots of depth of flavour and concentration, even in the finish too!

2013 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tresins
The coldest and highest terroir in Puligny ‘It always needs patience’ – its always a challenge to reach 12° here. Already in bottle.
The nose is tighter but the palate offers more energy and intensity – indeed this is very direct and intense. Super length that’s very mineral.

Les Rouges…

2013 Côte de Nuits Villages Le Clous
27 days of maceration here – the vines sitting just behind the cemetery in Corgoloin.
ebullient nose of dark cherry – super. Wide and with some muscle, a lithe personality with good mid-palate flavour intensity. A fine start!

2013 Santenay 1er Maladière
Racked yesterday from 1-year-old barrels – the malo only finished in October.
The nose is a little diffuse, but delivers dark, spicy fruit. More intense flavour, with more acidity. Lovely, long length.

2013 Ladoix 1er Les Hautes Murottes
Greg: ‘This is the first year with some whole cluster fermentation (50%); the wine is too deep most years, so…’ Raised in 40% new oak.
A very pretty nose with some whole cluster references but mainly floral not herbal notes. Lithe and concentrated flavour – very-much a grand cru standard wine that is long and frankly brilliant.
2013 Aloxe-Corton 1er Valozières
Also 50% whole clusters, and also for the same reason as the Ladoix.
Also a floral aromatic but with super complexity too – it’s gorgeous! Quite silky and intense with lovely flavour and a fine finish. Bravo!

2013 Nuits St.Georges Les Charbonnières
Vines next to the Clos des Grands Vignes 1er monopole of Comte Liger-Belair.
Whole cluster notes again, just a little more gothic. The palate is complex mix of flowers, licorice and more structure. Good wine but it doesn’t pull me in today…

2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Murots
Deep, dark, very lovely aromas, with a whole cluster accent. A Gevrey with structure but also a fine style of fruit. Excellent wine.

2013 Beaune 1er Les Grèves
Fresh, with deep, dark fruit and a little implied sweetness. Powerful with more structure but a very fine flavour too, running through the middle of the wine. Very, very long – super!

2013 Chambolle-Musigny
From three parcels, all at the top of the village. Vinified with 50% whole clusters.
The nose has lots of complexity, and is very pretty indeed – slowly adding more aromatic depth. Lots of structure, depth too and very fine transparency. A wine to wait for – perhaps 2 years – but it’s excellent!

2013 Vosne-Romanée Les Jacquines
Malo finished only 3 weeks ago.
Fresher, higher-toned, spicy and fumé – but more mineral-fumé than oak. Wide in the mouth with super energy and indeed super complexity too. Excellent!

2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Charmes
A deep, dark-cherry nose and lots of complexity. Full, with lots of concentration and good intensity too.. There’s a faint reduction here but it doesn’t detract from the panoramic finish – very long – excellent again!

2013 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champ
A plot of 90-100 year-old vines.
Deep, dark and muscly – impressively fine. Wide, concentrated with a little less energy but absolutely lovely flavour. Delicious and excellent!
