I met and tasted with Anne Parent 30th July 2010, mainly barrels but also a look at some bottled 2008s.
“2009 was fantastic if not the vintage of the century! It has a nice concentration of fruit, balance, a nice softness of tannins, the acidity is not high versus 2008. Very expressive and generous with good depth and body – very ripe – it works very well with the new oak.”
2009 was the first year that the whole domaine was run under an organic regime – the first year that they go for certification. In 2010 for the first time a few parcels are being treated in a biodynamic way – if it works out well it will be extended to the whole domaine.
From the Pommard area. Dark cherry aromas abetted by a hint of reduction, eventually bright red berries. There is a hint of gas too but the fruit is to the fore. There is a good base of structure and there ia hint of licorice in the finish.
Will end up about 30% new oak. More depth. More padding to the texture, extra depth. Still some CO2, but this is a nice wine.
Slightly creamy dark fruit. There is a hint more sweetness and intensity. Less plush but grows in the mid-palate.
45-50% new wood. High-toned, with floral aromatics. There is a sweet leading-edge into structured and nicely intense flavours.
Deep but quite fine aromas. Very good texture, good slightly grippy tannin. I like the authority here, there’s very good depth…
A little reduction slowly lifts to display nicely fine red and black aromas. This is a more mineral expression after the Beaune. The slowly lingering flavour clings toy our gums – makes it quite long.
There is a little reduction and gas. Clearly a little fuller and more plush. It’s very long and nicely fresh – some lingering black cherries.
Deep, dark fruit – very impressive aromas. Plush, very silky with a width that slowly gets wider and wider. This is beautiful!
Wide, high-toned aromas with redder fruit. Fine – on the elegant side of structured. There is a really late arriving density of flavour – complex flavour.
Wide, intense, dark red and black fruit aromas. Very fine texture. It is concentrated and balanced. I love the precision that this shows.
There’s a width of aroma. Full, mouth-filling with lots of concentration and slowly builds an extra dimension of flavour. Only slowly does the acidity bring a lift to the finish. For my taste I might prefer to serve this a little colder than I should.
A hint of almond and floral notes. More energy, less fat – lovely flavour. This is more mineral and it’s very pretty indeed.
Wide, very precise and pretty – lovely aromas. Very well balanced; there is lots of depth to go with the well covered acidity. This is really super.
Higher toned. More an undertow of red fruit aromas than precise berries, but slowly it takes on more focus – very interesting. Sweetness, concentration, soft but not too plush. The tannin is well covered and then the flavours bursts through. this is lovely.
Aromatic delicatesse – it’s a beauty! Silkier still. It’s not fat, but the intensity build and builds – I’m smitten, bravo!
