St.Aubin En Remilly

2010 Bouton Gilles St.Aubin En Remilly

Pale colour. Wide, slightly waxy impression, some faint herbs and with a little yellow fruit too. Fresh, nicely intense with just a hint of mouth-puckering acidity – but not overly so. The flavour of greeen-skinned fruits comes through in mouth-watering fashion. Racy and fun – lovely stuff.

Medium, medium plus yellow. The nose has wafts of grapefruit and pineapple. Day one this is close to tart but with a fabulous acid intensity, the agrume fruit seems just borderline ripe – me? Day two this is classic 2008 with a slightly tropical edge to the fruit but just wonderful acid balance – it seems a little sweeter. I assume my palate wasn’t playing on day one because this is superb on day 2!

Medium, lemon yellow. This has a depth of aroma matched by fine high-tones – it’s rather pretty. Width, depth and roundness of texture are obvious, coupled to fine acidity. Currently this is, by far, the most impressive and intense of these St.Aubins – lovely wine – I will have to buy (even) more!

In bottle. Just a little softer, hides its first fruit notes before slowly growing in the glass. This has a lovely texture and acidity balance. The concentration seems to grow and grow. Lovely wine.

Here the nose shows both width and density, there is a core of ripe fruit surrounded fresh and higher-toned aromas. Fuller but with fine intensity and an equally fine expansion of fresh, mouth-watering flavours – lovely!

Harvested quite late and just 2 weeks in bottle. High-toned aromas. Quite full-bodied, but it seems reasonably balanced. Very good intensity in the mid palate and also its fruit-led finish – bravo!

Medium-plus golden colour. The nose is slightly tropical, and certainly ripe. In the mouth there is a roundness of shape and okay acidity – the mid-palate flavour has a good extra dimension that goes long in the finish. Just missing a little energy, but smuch better than I expected!
