Meursault Les Genevrières

2009 Mischief and Mayhem Meursault Les Genevrières

Toasted bread and yellow fruit aromas that tend towards the savoury. In the mouth this holds your interest with a good mineral undertow; perfectly balanced there are flavours of fruit and more stones but they only appear in the mid-palate. Long and lingering, the last drops in the glass offering classic Meursault aromas. Super.

More aromatic depth with some green herbs. Concentrated and showing good acidity and intensity. In the middle this is quite mineral before a slightly savoury finish. This is very good – I like it – no ‘old-style Genevrières flab here!

Warm ripe fruit against a deeper oak note. This is fat but has decent balance – though it’s disadvantaged following the 2008s. Very well put together and understatedly concentrated.

The aromatics have less impact than the Beaunes, but they are fine and overlayed by a suggestion of warm toast. Ripe and complex flavours, even some minerality. This is really intense in the mid-palate. A super bottle that is full of energy!

Medium-pale yellow. Aromatic width with a lovely sweet brioche and faint citrus notes. This fills your

mouth with wide citrussy acidity and a super length. Lithe rather than fat and very moreish!

Wide, deep and forward aromas of cream-edged fruit and brioche. Light in the mouth, fresh yet flavour-packed. An additional dimension of flavour in the mid-palate and a good finish. Very lovely.

Width, freshness and a brioche depth on the nose. Ripe and concentrated with a very good texture. Long too. This hangs together very well, it’s very good wine – vintage independant.
