2009 Boisset Jean-Claude, Pommard Les VaumuriensJan. 2011
The nose has width and an engaging prettiness. Tannin and good acidity make an excellent foil for the very good mid-palate flavour.
2007 Billard Gabriel, Pommard Les VaumuriensMay. 2010
Nicely perfumed red fruit. In the mouth there’s a little more structure than fruit. Finishes okay with some astringency – not for drinking young!
2006 Billard Gabriel, Pommard Les VaumuriensMay. 2010
The red fruit aromas are a little more sugared. Fuller than the 2007 Charmots with more tannin – some astringency. The tannin sticks to your gums and really adds to the length.
2007 Boisset Jean-Claude, Pommard Les VaumuriensJul. 2009
Maybe the green harvest was a little excessive as the yield was a miserly 25hl/ha. 19 months of aging before bottling. A nose of dried fruits and finesse. A wide panorama of flavours across the tongue, slightly ‘harder’ than the Dominode, but lovely mouth-watering flavours. This is very nice.
2006 Boisset Jean-Claude, Pommard Les VaumuriensApr. 2008
Fine depth on the nose and it’s just a little wilder than than the previous Chambolle. Full-bodied and tannic. Does exactly what it says on the label – sturdy, burly Pommard – but no hard edges. Very good.
2005 Boisset Jean-Claude, Pommard Les VaumuriensApr. 2007
After the understated spice of the Vosne this is fresher with redder fruit. The palate is linear with grainy tannin, density in the mid-palate and a slowly lingering finish. Nice wine.
2004 Coche-Dury, Pommard Les VaumuriensDec. 2006
Medium-plus cherry red. The nose is sweet ripe and only with time betrays the faintest trace of cedar. Wide and friendly, the aromatics are sweet oak with a creamy edge to the red fruit. One sip and you’re hit by fresh, crunchy red and black fruit and grainy tannin – quite the extrovert – given the nose I expected something much more plush. The finish is quite long for a villages, showcasing those grainy tannins. This improved in the glass and was quite a crowd-pleaser.
