2008 Chauvenet Jean, Nuits St.Georges Les VaucrainsDec. 2010
Deep colour. Again an expression of dark fruit, though I have slight preference for the precision offered by the Perrières. Wide, perhaps a little too full, good tannin. The one area where I feel this ‘betters’ the Perrières is the slightly more interesting complexity of the finish.

1993 Chauvenet Jean, Nuits St.Georges Les VaucrainsApr. 2008
A medium-plus, young looking colour. Earthy, deep aromas with a mix of black and red fruit coupled to something a little more mature and savoury. In the mouth there is a mix of richness and freshness coupled to astringent tannins that probably ripe enough and certainly on the wane. Still a young showing and very impressive too.
1997 Chevillon Robert, Nuits St.Georges Les VaucrainsAug. 2007
Plenty of oak still on a nose that narrowly avoids reduction. Where the aromatics don’t involve, the palate delivers more; good dimension set against a furry tannin. Overall this is almost good but no more.
1998 Gouges Henri, Nuits St.Georges Les VaucrainsJul. 2004
This is a step-up from Gouges’ villages Nuits. Darker in colour with with blacker fruit on the nose. Good intensity and length, again very smooth tannins. Fresh and pretty interesting. This is a nice wine.
