Why Big Red Diary?
5 notes
2008 Roche de Bellene, Nuits St.Georges Les MurgersJul. 2010
The aromas have a denser impression to the red fruit but there are still some pretty floral aromatics too. Good fruit and structure – there’s a good balance here.
2006 Chauvenet-Chopin, Nuits St.Georges Les MurgersDec. 2008
Medium-plus colour. A very fine nose of focused fruit and super width. Lots of structure here, the tannin is ripe enough. A good dark fruit dimension. This certainly needs time, but it’s a good bottle.
2006 Potel Nicolas, Nuits St.Georges Les MurgersApr. 2008
The nose is complex focused and elegant – super. Lithe, vibrant wine with a super finish. This is very, very good. Short note, sweet wine.
2005 Potel Nicolas, Nuits St.Georges Les MurgersApr. 2007
This vineyard sits close to ‘Richemone’ from 45 year-old vines. Much more ebullient nose, just an edge of malo to be found but this is wide and interesting. Also very fine tannin and intense concentration. It’s hard to hold in the mouth and has super acidity. Just a little oak-derived texture on the good finish. A wine that impresses.
2004 Bertagna, Nuits St.Georges Les MurgersMar. 2006
Closed – almost no smell. The tannins are more to the fore vs the Vosne. Good fruit with nice depth to it. Very good length, though the tannin is just dominating. Give this 3-4 years in the cellar to soften.
