2008 Long-Depaquit, Chablis VaillonsJul. 2011
Pungent, fresh and intense – without sight of the label you could be forgiven for being unsure if it were a Grand Cru or not. This wine was singing, so much so that (pouring for three people) it was almost gone in a flash. A little was left in the bottle which was left in the fridge – a full five days later, because of travelling, I returned to the remaining half glass. I expected to be throwing it down the sink; instead it went down my throat with enjoyment – not even a hint of development or oxidation – bravo! And that was without a seal of any kind in the neck.
2007 Long-Depaquit, Chablis VaillonsMar. 2011
More evolved – bottle was changed. Fresher with a hint of seashore. Fuller. surprisingly the acidity is more understated yet the finish is bigger than 08.
2009 Long-Depaquit, Chablis Les BlanchotsMar. 2011
A hint of sulfur, the aromatic depth gets better and better as it recedes. Textured, layered, beautiful flavours and balance. The flavours further expand – super!
2007 Long-Depaquit, Chablis Les BlanchotsMar. 2011
Fine and clean aromas – understated ripe citron. The flavours are lovely; mineral and chalky with excellent acidity. The flavour ingrains itself. Super!
2009 Long-Depaquit, Chablis VaudesirMar. 2011
High tones and minerals – somehow almost salty. Round and full with lots of flavour. More mineral than the 07 Blanchots.
2008 Long-Depaquit, Chablis VaudesirMar. 2011
An impression that this wine is colder (it’s not) – cold steel over the tongue. A broad and long finish of warm, white fleshy fruit. Super wine.
2007 Long-Depaquit, Chablis VaudesirMar. 2011
Again a hint of saline. Really good cut in the mouth and again a chalky impression. This is not quite as precise as the 08 but 100% Chablis – super!
2009 Long-Depaquit, Chablis La MoutonneMar. 2011
Fresh aromas with hints of herbs and an understated base of fruit. Full-flavoured with lots of minerality and fruit stones. A slowly leaching sweetness and very long.
2008 Long-Depaquit, Chablis VaillonsMar. 2011
The nose is narrower but shows muscle and minerals. Good sweetness, certainly more mineral than 09, I slightly prefer the finish too.
