Medium ruby-red colour. The nose is round and delicately sweet and, at its core, retains that gorgeous crystalline dark cherry fruit of my original tasting – for the vintage that’s a rare treat. Good acidity also for the vintage and just enough fat to give a silky texture. You can find a little tannin if you’re prepared to work for it, but frankly, why bother? The fruit remains quite primary and shows a subtle creaminess as it lingers. Also a little bitter chocolate in the finish too that harks to oak. Young, but a beautiful drink today.

High-toned red fruits. Nice concentration and plenty of ripe, grainy tannin. Good acidity and plenty of excitement in the mid-palate. This is long too – a super villages.
2007 Clavelier Bruno, Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes MaizièresApr. 2009
A good impact of fruit on the nose. Similarly sweet, ripe fruit in the mouth. The tannin makes a small grab for the inside of your mouth, but it’s not astringent. Long finishing. This is another excellent villages.
2007 Clavelier Bruno, Vosne-Romanée Aux BrûléesApr. 2009
Real width and interest on the nose, though it doesn’t go very deep. Sweet, ripe fruit. Quite concentrated and with good grainy tannin. A really excellent mid-palate and finish.
2007 Clavelier Bruno, Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux MontsApr. 2009
This is also wide and interesting but the aromas have more depth. Wow! Complexity of fruit and herbs, good tannin and a lovely mix of flavours in the mid-palate. Super length too. A super wine.

Medium-plus cherry colour. Pronounced fruity nose coupled with sweet well integrated oak. Good tannin and acidity. Lots of volume. Best wine so far.
2001 Clavelier Bruno, Vosne-Romanée Aux BrûléesMar. 2003
Medium-plus cherry. Reticent high toned nose. Good fruit and acidity, the tannin creeps up on you. This is very good.
2001 Clavelier Bruno, Vosne-Romanée La MontagneMar. 2003
Not quite as deep purple as the ‘Hautes de Beaux-Monts’. Lovely pure fruity nose. A little more tannin and good acidity. Nice style again.
2001 Clavelier Bruno, Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes de Beaux-MontsMar. 2003
Pronounced purple colour. Some earthy notes on the nose. Quite a soft wine with lovely fruit. Very good.
