dubreuil-fontaine 08 beaune 1er montrevenots…

dubreuil-fontaine-2008-beaune-montrevenots

2008 Dubreuil-Fontaine, Beaune 1er Montrevenots
Medium colour. The herbal background of many 08s is here in relatively small measure, but more importantly, the entrancing clean fruit note of its youth is pretty much gone now. In the mouth this remains a big mouthful of energy – growing mid-palate intensity is borne on good acidity and ever so faintly astringent tannins. A wine that remains a big bundle of tasty energy despite losing the fabulousness of its youth. If you are paying more than €15 for your Bourgognes, you really don’t want to know what this great wine costs…
Rebuy – Yes

Thanks for this Bill. Got a few more of these myself having, with difficulty, kept my hands off them hence might broach one this coming weekend. Super wine isn’t it – another you put me on to, merci 😉

Must get along to the domaine at vendange time and maybe check out some later vintage examples along with other domaine bargains e.g the Volnay shhhh !

I’ve been meaning to visit them for a while now hearing you two rave about them. I’m going to ensure I make time next visit.

Michael, if you have time and inclination beyond a visit to the domaine I’d say its worth a trip up to Beaune Montrevenots. It really is a beautiful spot with spectacular views (well, on a sunny vendange morning any way !). The location of D-F’s Sous Fretille vines is another lovely place.
In terms of ‘raving’ I’ll have to admit to a degree of ‘something’ personal on account of having worked a harvest there but Bill has no such association so his views are wholly unfettered 😉 .

Dubreuil-Fontaine always is a good visit, their wines (esp. reds) are great values, even and grand cru level. If you are in Pernand, don’t forget to pay Domaine Rollin a visit, for this for me is really the place to be for the whites.

The 2010 version of this is excellent, stocked a few for the cellar, along with a mix of their ’10 Corton GC’s and blancs.
