I’m not sure about the magazine but the ladybird research is fascinating! Looks like you might have been onto something all along!

Seconded re Will’s first sentence 😉

Re his further comments of course we knew you were right all along Bill !

For me anyone who thinks some at least 2004 red burgs don’t have an issue, subject perhaps to an individual’s tolerance levels, for me is in denial and / or only needs to try Denis Bachelet’s 2004 Gevrey VV as an eaxmple. I thought I’d got 3 bottles of this cheap in an online auction. I soon found out why from the first bottle and immediately ‘got’ what the 2004 issue was which until then I’d not come across. I’ve buried the other two in my cellar and will see if several years brings a favourable change – I don’t hold out much hope though.

Moving on, and not wanting to be ‘accused’ of scare stories etc, but simply as a factual comment, the incidence of ladybirds (coccinelle) I personally saw during the 2011 vendange was really quite incredible compared to my previous 4 vendanges – particularly in waste from the triage table. My first vendange was 2006 hence I can’t compare with 2004 . I hope, of course, 2011 and 2004 can’t be linked but for now I’m ‘nervous’.
