2008 Dubreuil-Fontaine, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Ile des Vergelesses
Medium, medium-plus colur. There’s a hint of musky vanilla to go with deep red, powdery fruit. Lithe, intense, good acidity too. The distinguishing factor of this wine is the impressive length of flavour, there may be a hint of coconut oak too but not enough to spoil the effect. The last drops offer fabulous archetypal 2008 pure fruits – yum!
Rebuy – Yes

Hi Bill, I chose this from the Domaine too, and had a bottle at home last week. It sounds like you gave it the air it needed – my (un-decanted) bottle was v taut initially, but opened out by day 2 to be very much as per your description. It should be both classy and indulgent as a medium-term drop… espec if the somewhat modern oaking yields and integrates as I think it will.

      Hi Peter,
Yes about 30% was consumed at the start and the rest on day two – overnight in the fridge unstoppered. Unlike one or two samples at the domaine – no oxidative development at all; temperature really makes the difference ;o)
