I waited before returning. But this is really starting to sing now…

2007 Daniel Rion, Vosne-Romanée 1er Beaux-Monts
Medium colour. A nose to wallow in; faintly spicy with dark plummy fruit and flashes of clean red fruit. In the mouth there is now a nice balance, understated acidity and a good core of dark stony fruit. Slowly finishing, this is now a very tasty wine.
Rebuy – Yes

    Bill,

Sounds like it’s very tasty at the moment. Have you any opinion on how these 2007 reds are ageing and about their potential longevity?

    Cheers,
    Will

Hi Will – yes, very tasty indeed. Think I’ll pull out brother Rion’s Chambolle Charmes for another test, it was a bit hard last September.
I always positioned the vintage as a fresher 2000 and except many GCs that have much more to deliver, they are just lovely now. I expect 07 to be longer lived, but to what end is inevitably personal taste…
      Cheers

Hi Bill, Rion’s wines seem to be some of the most well-priced around. The wines seem well made with attention to quality. Any thoughts on why this may be so?

      Good question Rick……

All I know is I occasionally buy some bttle EP in Switzerland – they are great value and generally don’t let me down!
