Isabelle on 2023:
With 2023 we are very happy, except that the whites were a little low in acidity so will need some barrel elevage.

Isabelle on 2022:
2022 – happy. A big surprise because there wasn’t a lot of rain but – from somewhere – we still had some juice – and we waited an extra week for maturity too! Only about 10% less volume than in 2023 and easy in the cuverie – though less easy in the vines due to the strong heat of the year.

The wines…

Super quality at this address in 2022 – there are a bunch of great wines for their respective labels – well-done !!

All of these Marsannays are to be bottled over the next week – bar one. That and the Fixins will be bottled in February:

2022 Bourgogne Pinot Cuvée de Noble Souche
Dark fruit – fine precise high tones – that’s very attractive. Round, pretty visibility of fine flavours and small grains of ripe tannin. That’s a very top Bourgogne!

2022 Marsannay Cuvée Vielles-Vignes
Bottled in July.
A pretty nose also with a nice floral accent – but tighter than the Bourgogne. Hmm, that is just a wine of poise and linearity, finely textured. Super wine – really an excellent villages!

2022 Marsannay Clos de Jeuiv>
Hmm – that is a dark width of fine aroma – beautifully clean and expressive. Hmm, extra generosity. Simply very delicious wine – top!

2022 Marsannay Boivins
Quite a vibrant and dark-fruited wine again. Lovely width and again quite fluid – there’s concentration here with less generosity. Dark and delicious it’s just so good…

2022 Marsannay Grasses Têtes
2017 – the First vintage.
Hmm – that’s a lovely nose with extra florals too – a beauty. This is a wine to sink into as the flavour melts over the palate – slowly a finer, but more more visible, structure as you arrive in the finish. Super wine.

2022 Marsannay Champ Salomon
A broader higher toned width of aroma, slowly adding floral notes. More structural, indeed architectural, in shape – the most beautiful intense crystalline finishing fruit. Great wine – but it will need some time.

2022 Marsannay Combereau
‘Often the most masculine wine.’
Rounder redder. Cool, structured, melting. Really intense – the least ready but clearly with so much potential.

2022 Fixin Champs Tions
A narrow nose, slightly cushioned with really a lot of width but only in the depth today. This starts wonderfully silky and has a fine vibration of flavour – slowly, slowly fading with a narrow line of flavour. A beauty!

2022 Fixin Crais de Chêne
A vivid nose – wide. Supple and with extra fruit depth – this is just so precocious today. Beautifully finishing like an acid cherry.

2022 Gevrey-Chambertin
A blend of three parcels so no name.
Deeper, darker fruit – good depth a little less width. Silky wine, almost a mm of cushion. Intense, dark, juicy finishing in more velvet style but with hardly any dryness.

2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles
The domaine is the only owner of Evocelles in Gevrey – as opposed to Brochon – touching on Champeaux
This nose is dark and a little wild – nice! In the mouth too – airy, intense and a little more grain to this tannin but again without dryness – of all these, this is the one that I’d leave to sleep for a few years but with great confidence – it’s a lovely wine.

2022 Chambolle-Musigny
80% aux Echanges plus some Athets and Les Chardannes. The last vintage of this will be 2022 as the family (from Chambolle) who had leased the vines on fermage will get the vines back and exploit themselves.
Shy but wide, redder fruit and flowers – a classic Chambolle. Broad flavour with a hint more depth to the tannin but really fine and velvety. Broad and open, delicious finishing. Another beauty !

2022 Marsannay Rosé
High tones – some incisive character – but always inviting. Round, supple and really, really delicious! Yes… !!

The white:

2022 Marsannay Blanc
This is normally half barrel elevage.
High tones that are quite vibrant – some grainy, zesty, citrus impression too. Supple, with plenty of concetration – still good energy and flavour despite being slightly generous. Long, tasty, wine.
