Nice to see how the bottled wines now look – plenty of truly great reds, though much harder to find great whites – seemingly more success by domaine than by particular wines in the whites!
The whites:
2015 De Villaine, Bouzeron
A modest nose, quite tight. Full, saline, slowly meltng. A dense wine today, though with time, hopefully it will also offer some delicacy. A great finish though…
A more delicate and inviting, citrus freshness. Nice volume, an accent of oak, but it’s very nicely done. A Meursault depth of flavour to this wine – really super bourgogne!
2015 Remi Jobard, Meursault Les Chevaliers
Even fresher, airy – a super nose – yes! More depth, more concentrated, a little less fresh than the bourgogne but a fine vibration of finishing flavour.
Wider, faintly oaked atomatics, fine. Much fresher, more direct and mineral – melting flavour. Great wine!
2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles-Vignes
Less width but more depth of aroma, a faint toast. Mineral, similar to the last Jobard, but with more width. The last was finer, this has more oomph. Very good.
2015 Guy Amoit, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Les Macherelles
A less overt nose, pretty subtle precisions of citrus. Wide, very mineral, growing in depth and concentration. The best part is the fine, wide finish.
2015 François Carillon, Bourgogne Chardonnay
Nice depth, modest oak toast. Another mineral style, good but toasty volume in the mouth. Like the last, the best part is a very good finish.
2015 François Carillon, Puligny-Montrachet
A more open and fresher width of aroma, less overt depth. Like the last a toasty style, which lacks a little attraction/sweetness. Long though.
2015 François Carillon, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Champ-Gain
A little finer, more precision – still a little tight. More intense, mineral, slowly melting dlavour from the core. Again a little savoury in style but really the most attractive of this trio…
2015 Bonneau du Martray, Corton-Charlemagne
Implied depth of aroma, with nice if modest top notes. More depth, waves of flavour, mineral and complex – the Jobards have been the tastiest in style but this is the most impressive in depth/texture and complexity. Excellent.
2015 Domaine Leflaive, Mâcon-Verzé
Bright, pretty and fresh – very attractive. Lithe, good direction, a little soft after the Bonneau(!) but good depth of flavour. Yum!
2015 Domaine Leflaive, Pouilly-Fuissé
Less aromatic volume, a finer point of fresh citrus fruit. More mineral, longer, layered, really very good!
2015 Leflaive & Associés, Rully 1er Cru
An attractive width of fresh aroma. Wide, mineral, melting flavour. Good mid-palate depth. I’ve never met this wine before, but it’s super.
2015 Domaine Leflaive, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Clavoillon
A little oak-spiced top notes, slowly offering a nice depth of more fruited aroma. Supple, really a fine, slowly melting flavour and good balancing freshness. Excellent.
2015 Michel Niellon, Chassagne-Montrachet
A modest nose but nicely of fruit. Another 15 that is showing less fruit and a more salty mineral side. Fine mid-palate depth of flavour though. Tasty finishing – like most today.
Ooh – now this is a super nose, a subtle vibration of reduction, but a fine clarity of lime fruit too. Direct, pure, a little mineral. Great wine with a great finish!
Ooh thats pretty good too – deep fruit, faintly floral. Super volume on the mouth, frehness, growing intensity. This is really great. Bravo again!
Les Rouges:
Modest colour but a bright and lovely cherry fruit. Bright, complex, giving, delicious wine – bravo!
Ooh, wow, lovely, perfumed and open fruit here. Great volume, a little more structure that the de Villaine, more melting less overt but still great energy. Great bourgogne again!
2015 Denis Bachelet, Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles-Vignes
Nice, less overt aroma than the Bourgogne but a lovely depth. Fine texture, layers of fine, precise flavour. Super depth. Modestly aparent structure. Simply delicious!
2015 Jean-Luc et Eric Burguet, Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favourites
Good freshness on the nose, good depth too. Wide, fresh, a little twist of herb. Good complexity, plenty of oak tannin on the finish.
2015 Jean-Luc et Eric Burguet, Vosne-Romanée 1er Les Rouges du Dessus
Tight depth and a modest width of higher tones. Really a rather atructured wine, lots of tannin, lacking deliciousness.
2015 l’Arlot, Clos des Forêts St.Georges
Ooh, deeply perfumed, almost too much the first sniff then becoming ever more elegant in the glass. Supple, layered, whole-cluster-infelcted flavour. Beautifully finishing, super wine.
A pretty freshness, tighter below. Bright, fresh, precise, following the 1er cru very well – a great, uncomplicated, delicious Nuits villages.
2015 Trapet a Minima
Pretty and open, fleshy fruit. Great width with good freshness. Direct but with a great melting flavour. Very tasty wine.
Fine, floral perfumed, a super inviting nose. Structured, slowly melting flavour, indeed more slow waves of flavour. Great!
Not so wide a nose but with an alluring freshness. Lots of volume in the mouth, fresh, complex, melting flavour. This has a little sneaky extra mid-palate depth. Super – the finish is even better!
2015 Georges Roumier, Morey St.Denis 1er Clos de la Bussière
Also modest intensity aroma, but finely pure. Fuller, more volume in the mouth with more density – likewise the tannin too.
Super, pure, beautiful nose. Good volume again, more velvet tannin, a great finishing line of flavour – bravo!
A nose thats less overt. Supple, layered, great depth of flavour, a little tannin and super delineation of flavour. Great.
A rather easier red fruit here, but slowly adding very pretty florals too. Direct, fresh, more open tannin, but a little more lithe energy here too – I have a sneaky preference for this over the 60!
Attractive red fruit with flowers. Nice line, great flavour and growing complexity – great Santenay!
2015 Lejeune, Pommard 1er Les Poitures
Attractive, open red fruit, faint whole-cluster perfume. Lots of structure but great fruit flavour cutting through – wine to have sone patience with, but it’s delicious!
A width of higher tones, tighter below. Lovely complexity, depth of flavour that easily cuts through plenty of structure. This is a great wine!
2015 Ponsot, Clos de Vougeot
Ooh, deep impressively pure fruit. Big in the mouth, there’s tannin, but its still modest after the Pommards – such a big, impressive wine.
A textured core of fine fruit, not so open as the Clos de Vougeot. Really great depth of flavour, almost gooseberry, long, long, long – I can’t argue with anything here – exceptiional wine!
2015 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles-Vignes
Possibly the heaviest bottle!
Bright, pure red fruits. Lovely width, engaging, cossetting flavour – even after the Ponsot Clos de la Roche. This is an absolute honey!
Similar width od aroma but a little more fresh intensity. Supple, a little more precision and depth – just great!
2015 De Courcel, Pommard Vaumuriens
A very wide, very whole cluster nose – almost confected. Great in the mouth though, full, tannic, melting flavour, excellent.
2015 De Courcel, Pommard 1er Grand Clos Epenots
A little darket fruit of more depth, of course the same family nose but here it works better. Big, layered, lots of volume, lots of tannin. Of course to wait for but such great layers of flavour!
2015 Confuron-Cotetidot, Vosne-Romanée
A nice fresh and open nose. Lots of tannin but behind comes a mouth-watering sweetness of fruit. Today the tannin wins. In 10 years, maybe not…
This has a modest intensity of aroma, but quite the most beautiful purity and precision of complex notes – yes! Wide, round, fresh, complex, delicious – of-course lots of structure, but much, much easier to appreciate than the Vosne.
Deep, complex, but quite oaky. Big in the mouth, full of energy oand complexity – clearly great wine – but far too much is oak for drinking today… Wow length!
2015 Cornu, Corton, Le Rognet et Corton
Ooh, deep, attravtive, lots of caramel oak too, but… wide, layered, absolutely delicious and open today. But how? It’s Corton, where is the tannin? – The more I think about it, who cares – delicious!
Pretty, open and inviting. Supple, layers of flavour. This tastes absolutely great. Despite a little toasty oak in the finish.
Ooh – a perfume of violets. Freshness, extra depth and such a great finish. Another super wine, this time without the toast in the finish. Bravo!
A vibrant and floral nose – so alluring! Freshness and density – at the same time such a volume in the mouth. Wow – bravo! Great in this vintage. Fabulous density of finishing flavour. Easily one of the best wines of the tasting.
There is one response to “And 2015? – nearly 50 wines now bottled”
Missed you at the Martel tasting then…
