Laurent on 2019:
It was far from a typical year due to frost and then later concentration in the grapes and so the wine – at least at this age it seems to have lost some of its usual minerality. I want to do the minimum with the wines after Biodynamics in the vines, so all is vinified without added sulfur, just enough is added at the time of bottling – indeed nothing is added including things allowed by ‘organic!’

The wines…

Wines of character and energy. Indeed lovely wines…

For another day, and in addition to their well-liked (by me) brown-labelled Crémant, the domaine has a sparkling Fleur Aligoté mad by the Methode Champenoise using their own gyro-pallets. It’s a brut de brut (nature) but they are not allowed to use the AOC Crémant du Bourgogne because the maximum for that is 40% aligoté and this wine is 100%.

2019 Bourgogne Aligoté Limone
This wine has no added sulfur – also not at bottling.
Hmm – lots of depth to the aroma – a golden style of fruit. A bead of gas in this wine. Wide, lovely energy, melting fresh flavour over the palate. A big punchy finish, long. No shrinking violet – but delicious!

2019 Macon-Loché Cuvée du Clocher
Lots of clay and very little active limestone here. This also with no added sulfur. All tank elevage.
Not bright. That’s a deep, almost smoky impression to the aroma. Almost a little salted grapefruit to the flavour. This is super wine, begging you to take the second sip. Excellent!

2018 Pouilly-Loché 1er Reserve
A long elevage in barrel, 20% new – both fermentations were in barrel. This wine saw some sulfur before bottling.
This clean and bright, a little darker coloured. Deep, mineral, floral, golden styled fruit. Punchy – again – mouth-filling with energy – no barrel to be found, juicily finishing – that’s really delicious!

2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Chant de la Tour
Older barrel elevage. Destemmed, one remontage per day, end of fermentation after pressing into barrel. Again with a modest sulfur addition before bottling. 23mg total measured sulfur for this bottle.
A wide nose but also quite narrow – top to bottom. Freshness and purity for sure the nose slowly expanding with some floral perfume. Lovely in the mouth – this is blend of volume and fresh flavour – a very fine grain of tannin included. Slowly widening, but not calming(!) in the finish. Fine purity of flavour I like this very much.

Agree? Disagree? Anything you'd like to add?
