2015 Chambolle-Musigny

Update 27.4.2017(26.4.2017)billn

A chance to make a nice roundup of 2015 Chambolle-Musignys – nearly 50 wines, not blind – poured by their producers in the Clos de Vougeot – 27 March 2017. Presented here in producer alphabetical order, rather than as tasted…

A lot of great wines here, though proportionally maybe not more than in my blind Mercurey tasting. 2015 is really a great red vintage but generally it doesn’t reach the heights of Chambolle in 2005.

2015 Amiot-Servelle, Chambolle-Musigny
5 parcels mainly Badoits near Amoureuses
Hmm, good freshness and pretty fruit. Good volume in the mouth too, with nice impact. Mouth-watering – is this extracted? Well certainly not too much! Great and long, weighty fresh flavour. A super villages! Plenty of finishing tannin…

2015 Amiot-Servelle, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Plantes
A tight nose but with an attractive freshness. Good density, with fine, mouth-watering, flavours of sweet fruit. Very tasty!

2015 Amiot-Servelle, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Charmes
More dimension and freshness of aroma – an excellent nose. Plenty of structure here, but fresh and delicious flavours too. Long, long, long. Good stuff.

2015 Amiot-Servelle, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Amoureuses
Round, modest, attractive nose. Lots of flavour dimension and structure in the mouth. Harder than the Charmes, which I’d take in advance today.

2015 Boursot Père et Fils, Chambolle-Musigny Noizeres
Below Charmes near the Route Nationale, bottled DeCember. The domaine has only 4 hectares but plenty of parcels – looks like a good address!
Dark, but deep and attractive top notes. Good volume and intensity – layers of flavour and super intensity. A little oak in the finish, but this is lovely still.

2015 Boursot Père et Fils, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Lavrottes
Next to Baudes below Bonnes-Mares
A Little tight but decent aromatic depth. Good volume, really an extra intensity. Intense, growing flavour – super! long, long…

2015 Boursot Père et Fils, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Chatelots
Very slowly this opens with a fine and fresh red fruit. Quite large but really delicious, I love the mouth-watering flavour here. Excellent and delicious!
2015 Boursot Père et Fils, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Fuées
Also rather a tight nose. Hmm, this is beautiful. Clarity, mouth-watering juicy fruit. More and more complexity. Super!

2015 Rene Cacheux, Chambolle-Musigny
Two parcels
A deep and dark nose, but one that’s really engaging and inviting. Plenty of structure but great, mouth-watering flavour too. Delicious, juicy fruit in the middle. Excellent!

2015 Jerome Castagnier, Chambolle-Musigny
Round, faintly oaked nose. Despite the nose this has a juicy flavour, some oak still, but this melts over the palate and is delicious!

2015 Berthaut-Gerbet, Chambolle-Musigny les Plantes
Quite a tight nose, but above there’s nice freshness and a floral-accented fruit. Hmm, I like very much the volume in the mouth. The flavour is mouth-watering and very tasty. Super! Not bottled.

2015 Anne et Sebastien Bidault, Chambolle-Musigny Les Herbues
Bottled 1 month.
Hmm. There’s a nice freshness here, direct, complex, fresh and actually delicious – I love the direct but pure style – yum!

2015 Michel Gros, Chambolle-Musigny
From 4 parcels, still in barrel
Fresh, wide, floral a little oak too. Also in the mouth it’s accented with oak but put that to the side and it’s fresh, mouth-watering sweet and very, very tasty. Yum! A great finish!

2015 Olivier Guyot, Chambolle-Musigny
A hint floral, some nice depth – ooh gets better and better. Fresh, delicious, mouth-watering wine – delicious and mouth-watering. Simply excellent – despite only 8 days in bottle

2015 Olivier Guyot, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Fuées
Finer but tighter aroma – less overtly inviting. Bigger in the mouth, much more floral, more structure. This is good but to wait for – the Chambolle villages says ‘take me!’

2015 Heresztyn-Mazzini, Chambolle-Musigny
From Aux Echanges and badoit, 50% wc
Hmm – very attractive. Modest but attractive nose. Volume, mouth-watering flavour, layers of deliciousness – bravo – faintly saline too. Gorgeous!

2015 Louis Jadot – Domaine Gagey, Chambolle-Musigny Les Drazy
Hmm, nice aromatic volume, pure dark and beautifully fresh. Bright, with a nice intense line. Beautiful, always – never had one of these that I wouldn’t buy! Super.

2015 Louis Jadot, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Fuées
Ooh – bright, very forward floral red fruit. Wide, insinuating, layered beautiful juicy flavour. Bravo! Super long too!
2015 Alain Jeanniard, Chambolle-Musigny
2 parcels, Les Athets and Chardannes, 50% whole cluster.
Some flowers and a little salinity. Adds a subtle but beautiful depth. Saline, mineral, mouth-watering, long and most importantly delicious. Lovely wine.
2015 Thibault Liger-Belair, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Gruenchers
Hmm – interesting nose – there is freshness but texture too and a super elegant whole-cluster floral. Good weight, nicely defined wine with a good weight of fresh flavour. Super mouth-watering in the finish – it begs another sip!

2015 Georges Lignier, Chambolle-Musigny
Round, faintly saline. Bright, fresh, quite tasty wine this! A sort of cooked red fruit but with a beautiful freshness – a great combination.

2015 Hubert Lignier, Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières
Quite a tight nose with a nice freshness. A little structure but there is also good volume, freshness and a fine sucrosity to the mouth-watering flavours. Very yum! A nice finishing rigour too!

2015 Hubert Lignier, Chambolle-Musigny 1er les Baudes
Just a hint volatile but lots of floral fruit too. Fresh, mouth-watering, great structure, melting flavour. Silky and joyous wine. Bravo!
2015 Michel Magnien, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Sentiers
No new oak, amphora/jars, two-thirds wc in 2015
A textured nose, interesting but slightly tight. Good volume in the mouth, with sucrosity, mouth-watering flavour, great structure, love the texture and flavour – it could be more complex, but it’s simply delicious. Bravo. Not yet bottled.

2015 (Negoce) Magnien, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Charmes
But bio, a mix of ‘jars’ and old wood, like the domaine wine.
Here the nose is less interesting, perhaps faintly volatile. But fresh and interesting. Quite floral in the mid-palate. Good length. This needs to get better for a recommendation though.

2015 (Negoce) Magnien, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Borniques
Same vinification as last two.
Now that’s much nicer, fresh and floral. This has good volume and freshness. Tasty, a little saline, no2 from these 3! Yum!

2015 Mugneret-Gibourg, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Feusselottes
A nice freshness with a hint of floral – below is tighter. Lovely in the mouth though, mouth-watering, melting flavour with just a little oak to accompany. Delicious!

2015 Michel Noellat, Chambolle-Musigny
Multiple parcels assembled.
Deep aromas despite the modest colour. Great depth. Good texture and richness of flavour. Long, mouth-watering. Tasty wine. Yum!

2015 Manuel Olivier, Chambolle-Musigny les Fouchères
30% wc.
Smells a little volatile but it’s a barrel sample, so probably nothing to worry about. This is quite good in the mouth, plenty of structure, perhaps a hint of volatility too here… The finish is tasty – it will be better to taste the finished wine.

2015 Perrot-Minot, Chambolle-Musigny
Deep, dark, powdery fruit. A little warm impression, but layered and very pretty flavour – flavour that grows and grows – hmm, yum! A little oaky in the finish, but this is really a caressing wine for the palate if not the wallet.

2015 Jacques Prieur, Musigny
Faint flowers, it’s an open and fresh nose yet without overt complexity. Lots of volume in the mouth, lots of freshness too, with a developing width. It’s super long and linear in the finish, here a little oaky – but unending!

2015 Armelle et Bernard Rion, Chambolle-Musigny Les Echezeaux
High toned, a hint floral. A nice line, of floral flavour in the mouth – hmm, this is rather good, melting over the palate. Much finer than the 2013 that I last bought!

2015 Roblot-Marchand, Chambolle-Musigny
A blend of multiple parcels.
A nice aromatic freshness. Direct flavour, growing in volume, slowly mouth-watering, faintly saline, long… It’s a great finish. Yum!

2015 Roblot-Marchand, Chambolle-Musigny Pas de Chat
The only pas de chat that I know.
Red, floral, tighter aromatic width. Fresh, narrower, linear, a growing and melting flavour with a hint more intensity. Perhaps minerality. Slowly growing. Yum, saline, mineral, delicious wine!

2015 Roblot-Marchand, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Fuées
Pretty and high-toned floral aromas. Tighter, linear, more a growing insinuation of flavour, more finishing concentration. Mouth-wateringly long! Good but a wine to wait for – it’s not fully open as tasty as it is!

2015 Roblot-Marchand, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Charmes
A little more weight of aroma. Fresh, fine attack, melting – it seems the house style here, modest weight wines but pure and fresh, not a bit jammy or heavy. Super balance of modest weight – a little more depth and weight of flavour. A good burst of finishing intensity here. Yum! A hint of oak in the finish.

2015 Roblot-Marchand, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Noirots
Tighter, a little darker fruit. Structured but fresh, layers – indeed more like waves of flavour. Nice density.

2015 Anne et Hervé Sigaut, Chambolle-Musigny les Bussières
More weight and depth of aroma. Directly more dimension, energy and points of interest. Lovely finishing intensity – truly excellent villages!

2015 Anne et Hervé Sigaut, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Fuées
Deep, welcoming fruit – bright fresh notes too. Not more weight, but more structure and intensity, it’s a fresh not a rich wine. Great burst of finishing flavour, and its long too. Yum! A little finishing structure too.

2015 Anne et Hervé Sigaut, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Chatelots
A less focused nose, but nice width. Bright, fresh, intense, structured, super intensity actually. Chewy flavour in the finish, this is super and delicious despite its structured youth. Yum again!

2015 Anne et Hervé Sigaut, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Noirots
This nose has some flowers, some darker, almost mineral depth. Extra sweetness and richness of flavour here – lots of mid-palate structure, but freshness and interest too. Long, long – a keeper. Excellent!

2015 Ann et Hervé Sigaut, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Sentiers
Dark, an impression of structure and tannin – to the nose! Richer again, good fatter texture – layered, less overt energy but insinuating flavour. More grand cru level. Long, long, long….excellent.

2015 Robert Sirugue, Chambolle-Musigny Les Mombies
Sandy soil in the direction the Route Nationale from the village.
Hmm, a nice nose, spicy red fruit. Direct, fresh, modest entry but very tasty finishing if a hint of toasty oak. Very yum at the end if still a modest wine.

2015 Jean Tardy, Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets
Hmm, quite a tight nose, just a little freshness and oak – the fruit starts as just an accent. Good volume in the mouth, lots of layers of flavour too – growing intensity of flavour. Today a little muddled in the middle but a super finish. Bottled at the beginning of February.

2015 Taupenot-Merme, Chambolle-Musigny
From Bussieres and Taupe
Good volume, modest fruit – but it’s not yet bottled. Fresh, good volume, red fruit, slowly mouth-watering. Delicious finishing – oaky but yum in the finish.

2015 Taupenot-Merme, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Combe d’Orveaux
Ooh – now this is very lovely – good aromatic volume, complex, with flowers and warm red fruit – yes! Volume in the mouth too, layers, richness of texture, but fresh. This is a beauty – bravo!
2015 Cecile Tremblay, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Feuselottes
Still in barrel
There is a pretty floral freshness, yet it’s tight too. Floral, très floral – a hint of the stems perhaps, but this is really drop-dead gorgeous – a smaller, more mineral wine than the Taupenot d’Orveaux but bravo!
