Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc

2006 Bize Simon Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc

Fresh aromas of agrumes. The palate is quite full but there’s the requisite acidity behind. Nicely round mid-palate and with good flavour too.

Only 50% of the malolactic completed here. The aromas are fuller and show sone hints of vanilla. This has a lovely insinuating concentration – lovely balance. Yum.

Fresh, high-toned, slightly estery fruit aromas that are nicely balanced by a creamy undertow. On the tongue, nice fruit and a good level of freshness. Actually quite a pretty wine.

The grapes are from a south-east exposed slope. Squeeky-clean aromas jump from the glass. The palate is fresh and ripe with an understated padding of fat. Full of flavour, slightly exotic but with perfect freshness. Lots of excitement in the glass.

Wide and high-toned, perhaps a little diffuse, but not bad. Plenty of punch and freshness. The fruit has a slightly baked aspect but it’s fresh enough – the finish is decently long too.

Barrel fermented and from a 2 hectare plot that contains about 10% pinot blanc. Some depth on the nose. This is a wine that really expands on the palate, providing lots of savoury flavour as it heads for the finish. Very well balanced, and would be an excellent match with food.

Four barrels from 2 parcels mainly just under Les Vergelesses. Rich and concentrated fruit on the nose. In the mouth it’s nicely concentrated, showing plenty of forward fruit and a lingering finish

Quite a concentrated nose with a subtle undertone of vanilla. There is nice texture and some depth. There is also a nicely creamy base to this wine – long too. I’m very surprised by the quality of this wine, it’s very , very good.

Actually contains some old-vines (50 yo) pinot blanc. Pale yellow colour. The nose bursts with melon, pineapple and green-apple skin. Some fat, and despite a mouthwatering finish, my taste begs more acidity. Whilst quite simple in the mouth there’s a really engaging and long finish.
