Medium-plus colour. The nose is deep with a subtle oak toast and dark berries overlaid with some violet notes. Lovely acidity and with it super mid-palate intensity. The flavours are dark and quite long-lasting with a little bitter-chocolate. Very understated tannin – overall this is a very good wine with decent value, selling at only 2/3rds the price of the white version.

There seems more power despite some relative understatement. Wider and fuller than the St.Aubin, though less over flavour. There’s a very nice mineral line that runs through this wine into the finish.

Rouge. Lovely colour. Depth, lots interest. Dark red fruits that are gorgeously detailed. Velvet but very much background tannin. The acidity is well-enough covered. A long acid-cherry driven finish. A wine I’d definitely buy – to save!

The aromas offer a wide vista of delicacy and complexity. The flavours are more mineral styled and very complex in the mid-palate. Quite an academic wine this one. Very, very good.
