From purchased grapes. Medium-pale colour. Sweet stemmy perfume – and it IS perfume – lovely. Silky, subtle, delicate and complex. Super for ‘what it is’ and very clean. I bought some.
Côte de Nuits Villages
2002 Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs Côte de Nuits Villages
Medium-plus cherry-red colour. The nose is wide, sweet and high-toned – a good start. The palate is poised, mouth-wateringly long and shows lovely balance. The fruit is predominantly red and wrapped with low-key grainy tannin which can become a little messy if the wine gets too warm, but direct from the cellar this is a winner – assuming you get a discount – it’s not the cheapest of villages!
2002 Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs Côte de Nuits Villages
Although the label is very much in the domaine’s style, it’s nice to see a little more differentiation on the label for this ‘vin de négoce’. Deep but not opaque cherry-red. The nose is a rather impressive and intense core of black cherry surrounded by higher tones. The palate is an oak-spice and black fruit extravaganza thats coupled with slightly tart acidity and well mannered tannins. Mouthwatering with medium length – a gem of Côte de Nuits.
