Chablis

2002 Tribut Laurent Chablis

By on June 30, 2006 #asides

Pale-medium lemon yellow colour. Fresh and hightoned – a little greengage and with swirling pear too. Equally fresh palate that has very good concentration for the appellation, equally good acidity plus a little ‘why are you drinking me now?’ austerity. Leave it a couple more years to flatten that element of harshness in the mid-palate and you should have a ‘village’ wine that punches above its weight.

2002 Bouchard Père et Fils Chablis

Medium-pale yellow colour. Wide nose, plenty of high tones over a sweet core. The palate has ‘just-right’ acidity, medium concentrated sweet fruit and a slowly mouth-watering finish. No rough edges this is a super value basic wine.

2002 Colombier Chablis

No wood used in production. Open high-toned nose with faint citrus. Good fat and surprising depth and length for the price. Perhaps I’d like a hint more acidity, but there’s good minerality and an even better price!
