Bourgogne Blanc

1999 Roulot Guy Bourgogne Blanc

Golden colour. The nose is understated, indeed rather dumb. The palate is glossy and complete – good mouthfeel and acidiry – but also overly understated. Less vivacity than when last drunk – perhaps it’s this bottle or perhaps the merchant’s storage is not so good(?)

Pale yellow. The nose is the most forward of this trio – like a half-pint Meursault. Reasonable fat and a nice finishing intensity to the fruit. Good acidity too. How nice? – well I promptly bought a case!

This is pale yellow with a very prominent peach and apricot nose – most individual. Fat, with a very wide palate and good acidity. I liked the style but my wife didn’t like the nose. Individual and very good.

Straw coloured, just a trace of green at the rim. A wide, faintly citrus nose over a melony base. Fatter than the Aligote and also a little less simple. Good acid and medium length. Almost good.

1999 de Bucy Joseph Bourgogne Blanc

Pale yellow colour. The nose has good depth, is quite fresh and high toned with some green apple notes. Good fat and despite being a little sweet the acidity brings it nicely into balance. This wine actually has very good depth and length. Most of the grapes are sourced from Meursault – and you can tell. Excellent Bourgogne Blanc.
