Pale lemon yellow. The nose bursts with limes/citrus fruit and an undertow of creamy, slightly oaky chardonnay fruit. Depth and forward fruit on the palate. There’s a fatness that is cut with lovely acidity. Lasts well in the finish. We seemed to demolish this one very quickly – very good and quite moreish.

I cannot lie, I was hiding away 3 bottles for a rainy day, but the moment (the party actually) got the better of me. Not much of a note as I was without pen – just a glass! The intensity is superb, this is an excellent wine that puts many a Corton-Charlemagne to shame. Not cheap, but worth searching for – now I’ll have to replace it – with interest!
2000 Roulot Guy Bourgogne Blanc
Pale yellow. The nose is lovely blend of apple and pear. Not quite the intensity of fruit to be found in Leflaive’s Bourgogne, but quite fat and there’s still a lot of material that’s held together with refreshing acidity. Medium length, currently a one-dimensional wine that I’d be tempted to leave in the cellar for a couple of years. Potentially very good Bourgogne.
