There’s a nice concentration to the aromas, ripe yellow fruit that’s framed with a hint of spice – 20% new oak here. Fuller than the St.Romain, this is quite concentrated, even a little rich but there is lovely expansion in the mid-palate and it seems completely balanced. A good wine that speaks of Meursault – what more could you ask?

Bottled September 2008. The colour is a little deeper yellow. Riper and punchier aromas fill the glass, backed by faint oak. The flavours are richer than the St.Romain’s but there’s an underlying freshness that avoids too fat an impression, yet the texture is silky smooth. Faintly lingering with some savoury flavour. Clean and tasty.

Pear fruit plus an extra density on the nose vs the villages Puligny – though perhaps a little tighter. Lovely, wide fresh palate. The acidity is much more forward, indeed racy vs the Puligny, giving the impression of extra length, but without that wine’s late kick of concentration. The acidity masks the weight of this a little.
