Lupé-Cholet

2004 Lupé-Cholet Nuits St.Georges Château Gris

By on March 31, 2009 #asides

Lots of 2004 character on the nose. Ripe and actually quite rich flavours. Good tannin and a nice red-fruit flavour in the finish. Currently compromised, but the base is super.

2007 Lupé-Cholet Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits

By on March 31, 2009 #asides

Medium, medium-plus colour. A ripe, fresh and forward nose. An equally ripe mouthful of concentrated fruit – super impact for a bourgogne. The finish is merely ‘okay’, but for €8.50 on the day, super!

2006 Lupé-Cholet Côte de Nuits Villages

By on March 31, 2009 #asides

Narrower entry onto the palate versus the Bourgogne but widens nicely in the mid-palate. At a ‘today’ price of €12.50, this is another winner.

2006 Lupé-Cholet Chablis Les Blanchots

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

There’s a little hidden depth to the nose overlayed by faint citrus notes. The entry is rather soft – no attack – but it fills out nicely in the middle and brings a good length of finish – though it seems mainly of savoury, oaky elements.

2005 Lupé-Cholet Clos de Vougeot

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

Also not much aromatically – just a little dark oak. Linear, lithe with well-manged tannin and more high-toned fruit. A decent finish – also austere!
