Medium, medium-plus colour – and quite young looking colour at that! The nose has minerality, tar and eventaully candied red berries. Real intensity and mouth-watering acidity define the wine today, yet there is a hint of fat before the acidity takes over, that dissuades you from chewing to inspect the tannin! Long, mineral flavours with and edge of sweetness. Drinkable but très young!

Medium ruby-red. The nose is just a little reduced, eventually a mix of sweet, slightly dark oak and understated redder notes. The palate is fresh and linear with well-covered tannins. The acidity is a little tart, but there is quite enough fruit and a nice creamy edge to the fruit and acid-driven finish. Fresh but fun – I enjoyed.

After 4 months without a corked bottle, bugger – corked – now I only have 4 of these left. The colour is medium, medium-plus ruby red with just a little less cherry red at the rim than the first wine. The nose starts with a waft of dark, spicy oak but this is quickly gone to reveal a dark and understatedly spicy base. Time in the glass opens the wine out into a redder and finer vernacular without much in the way of density. Lithe and rather linear the plate shows forward acidity, but such is the superb intensity that this is kept quite in balance. What tannin can be discerned against the background of acidity and intensity has just a little astringency and the faintest edge of bitterness. The length is impressive, but it is rather ‘thin’ and an extension of the flavours I associated with the tannin, just a little tart too. The nose is now rather good, but the palate needs some time and currently shows much less ripe than the Mugnier Amoureuses.

Medium ruby-red. This is a wine that needs to be cooled – at room temperature the nose and palate are diffuse and disappointing, cooler and it tightens up, becoming (a little) more interesting. The (cool) nose is high-toned with a core of red fruit fruit and plenty of minerally earth. The palate is beautifully balanced with good acidity and almost good length. It is rather linear and despite its relative sophistication (cold) has less ‘oomph’ than most village wines. I’m still a little disappointed.

Medium ruby-red. Deep, slightly savoury red nose and top note of violets and just a little undertone of herbs. The palate is fresh and quite elegant, shows good acidity and a nice little burst of concentration. The finish is of the slowly fading variety. Understated rather than impressive.

Medium red, still with a cherry caste to the rim. A wild and wide nose that has black edged cherry, sweet compote and a little coffee in the background – really interesting. The palate is still a little linear, though transparent and with good acidity. The length is also almost good. Time in the glass brings this to an ever-improving level, filling out the palate more and more. Leaves a good impression.

Medium colour, still just a trace of cherry-red. Spice on the wide nose, which develops beautifully in the glass – dried red fruits and intense cherry. The palate never-quite lives up to the nose; good texture and an extra edge of concentration on the mid-palate and finish – a finish that slowly fades with a little grain on the tannin showing up. Today, this is half a great wine.

Medium-plus colour without much fading. The nose starts high-toned with powdery red fruit, becomes a little smokey with coffee overtones. The palate has excellent intensity to the fruit with good, slightly grainy tannin and good acidity. This is a very good wine that still shows quite a lot of oak effect on the palate but will be very fine.

Medium, medium-plus cherry-red. The nose has deep and inviting red fruit with still a little ashy oak showing. In the mouth there’s good volume and forward but smooth acidity that continues to sparkle on the finish easily longer than 30 seconds. The tannins are well hidden and like the nose there’s still some oak showing, particularly on the finish. Very good villages but it would be best to wait for another 2 or 3 years for the next bottle.
