Bouchard Père et Fils

2007 Bouchard Père et Fils Nuits St.Georges Les Cailles

Medium-plus colour. The first wine with detectable oak toast over warmth and spicy sweetness. Good sweetness on the tongue but a little more reserved than the ‘Porets’, its darker fruit is a little more distant. Plenty of fine grained tannin and late-appearing, mouth watering acidity.

From just over 1 hectare of owned vines that give Bouchard P&F close to one third of the appellation. High-toned fruit over a sweet base of blue and black-skinned fruits. Apparently Les Cailles is often colder than the surrounding vineyards so can be a harder wine. Soft, with quite sophisticated though abundant tannins. A nice kick in the mid-palate moves you into a lovely clean finish.

When compared to it’s neighbours this is a relatively cool vineyard. A nose of both width and depth, black fruit and a little coffee-bean. Very sweet and smooth palate that shows super concentration. Not too fat, good length and leaves the mouth watering for more. Lovely.

From the Southern part of NSG. Medium colour. Nose is reserved with some faint vanilla tones. Nicely concentrated fruit on the sweet palate. Medium tannins with almost good acidity. A persistent finish. This is good and quite drinkable already.
