Nuits St.Georges

1969 Bourée Pierre Fils Nuits St.Georges

Medium colour. To start with there is no aroma at all, very slowly there is hint of beef broth and a more impressive and sweeter acid cherry. Very silky. You have the taste impression that somewhere there there lies a hint of oxidation but it’s buried under a sweet red note and never becomes more than a suggestion. Pretty with a fine, if understated acidity. Very stable in the glass, and with a lovely core of fruit. My run of excellent 69s continues…

The nose offers deeper and darker ripe fruit than the bourgogne. Fuller, more concentrated and with more tannin too which bestows a good character. Classic Nuits – a good wine.

Dark oak aromas – mainly. Lithe velvet texture with tannin that is just a little astringent in the finish. Again there’s a little too much oak for my taste but you will find very good finishing flavour.

Medium colour, quite some browning. The nose is clean to start and all about soil, soil and more soil – with time we have a deep sweetness and a subtle undertow of musk. A little tannin bubbles below the surface and the flavour grows and grows in the mid-palate – really good intensity and plenty of sweetness too. I think this has a really good mid-palate complexity and with just a hint of creaminess too. Slowly lingering on beautifully judged acidity – medium-plus length – tons of enjoyment here; this is the archetypal melting old burgundy with tons of sediment at the end – completely yum!

Similar nose to the Gevrey. The structure is actually on a lower level to the Evocelles, which is mainly covered by bright well balanced fruit. Actually a very pretty wine – except the aromas.

Assembled from three separate parcels. Medium-plus colour. The nose has lovely dark fruit with a floral hint. Fuller, rounder and with lots of velvety tannin that attaches flavour to your gums. A nice fresh face with dark flavours in the finish.

Medium, medium-plus colour. Darker aromas, slowly cooking cherries. It’s a different kind of attack. Good width and intensity, the velvet tannin slowly builds. The flavours linger very well, sticking to the inside of your mouth.
