Fixin Blanc

2007 Boisset Jean-Claude Fixin Blanc

10% pinot blanc in the mix. There’s a width of tasty fruit here – and some extract too. A ’small wine’ after the Clos Blanc de Vougeot, but a good wine.

The fruit aromas are slightly greener and towards the melon end of the spectrum. In the mouth there is a little more impact and density – wide across the mid-palate – it keeps a good balance. Good, slightly savoury length. Nice wine.

90% chardonnay, 10% pinot blanc. Wide and fresh aromas. The pinot blanc seems to provide a little more density. Some baked bread flavour in the mid-palate adds to relatively savoury flavours. Good length – quite nice I would say.

Bought from the same supplier ’sur pied’ – they do all the vineyard work and decide when to pick – since 1999. Pale colour. Good depth with faint brioche. Wide and acidity-driven – will need to soften in bottle, but the track record here shows that they do. Mineral and fresh – unlike other Côte de Nuits whites. Very moreish.

The team continue to offer this rare bottling. A forward nose that mixes melon and pineapple. Good, quite forward acidity with a similar density to Bourgogne Prestige but there is more dimension and a slightly longer finish. 30-40% new oak was here and I think it needs to integrate a little more, but the base material is nice and fresh.
