2010 Marchand Pascal Bourgogne Pinot Noir Avalon

Again quite elegantly proportioned, though there’s clearly an extra structural buffer. I just love the additional clarity and precision on display here – lovely wine.

2010 Mikulski François Bourgogne Passetoutgrains

By billn on January 16, 2012

From a selection of vines planted in 1929. Good depth on the nose. First impression is that there is good intensity of fruit though clearly not the over-ripe version. Just a hint mouth-puckering but the overall balance is very good.

From the same 1929 vineyard as the Passetoutgrain, but of-course just the pinot this time! Very, very pretty aromas that offer both depth and a precocious intensity. Likewise intensity of flavour and a hint of tannin grab too. I’d relish this young!

2010 Mikulski François Bourgogne Aligote

By billn on January 16, 2012

A strong core of fruit aroma. Likewise there’s a good centre of acidity here and a crystalline aspect to the fruit. This is an good wine with none of overly savoury aspects that Aligoté can sometimes deliver.

2010 Mikulski François Bourgogne Les Herbeaux

The nose has high tones and quite some depth – not so wide to start with though. Here the impression is of a fuller wine with an extra edge of sweetness. Lovely acidity which really, really pushes the fruit long. Lovely Bourgogne

2010 Buisson-Charles Bourgogne Pinot Noir

By billn on November 09, 2011

Just a hint of reduction – but frankly nothing could take your attention from a double-dose of cassis on the nose. Quite full and round with a real base of tannin. The flavour has creamy accents – regardless of appellation, just a lovely wine.

2010 Digioia-Royer Bourgogne Rosé

By billn on July 11, 2011

This was a saignée from the bourgogne. The colour is an oeil-de-perdrix with fresh aromas that include a hint of strawberry. Nice underlying acidity and a hint of something red about the flavours and a little fat to the texture too. Actually I think this probably needs another 3-6 months in bottle to come together but there’s a lovely, long, red-fruited finish.
