Boisset Jean-Claude

2009 Boisset Jean-Claude Bourgogne Aligote

By billn on January 25, 2011

Bottled after 12 months and shows just a hint of oak on the nose to go with a whiff of clean fruit. Wide with quite nice energy and a lovely core of lingering flavour. Rather good considering it followed a 1er Cru Puligny!

From vines between St.Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet that were picked 21st September at 12.5°, and raised in 25% new oak. Light colour. The aromas are high-toned yet savoury – like only aligoté seems to achieve. Seems nicely intense and shows super energy. Good flavour and length – what is not to like? – super.

2007 Boisset Jean-Claude Hautes Côtes de Nuits Chardonnay

Picked at 14° potential – there were lots of millerande bunches says Grégory. 2,700 bottles – only in screw cap. Faint sulfur on the nose, otherwise it’s fine enough. Less fat than the Mâcon, but clearly more power – very impressive – it also lingers well. You would never guess Hautes Côtes – test some friends blind! – really super.

This is 90% declassified Savigny and only bottled under screw cap. Medium colour. High-toned with faint spice. In the mouth it’s supple and pretty, without hard edges with sweet fruit at its core. A very nice, and certainly impressive entry-level wine.

10% new oak. A very high-toned, slightly floral nose – but focused. The palate is fresh, mineral and easy. Good and not to simple…

2006 Boisset Jean-Claude Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits

15% new oak but very light in colour. The nose shows that oak, but is also a little richer for it. This is much more flavourful and intense. Very good at this level.

2005 Boisset Jean-Claude Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits

A lovely wide and slightly spicy nose – 20% new wood was used. The palate reflects the nose with a wide and fresh, very lithe stance with a good finish. Great value.

This is a blend of of grapes from Ladoix and Puligny-Montrachet. The nose is deeper with a citrus-edged melon impression. The palate is wider and softer than the Hautes Côtes, good acidity too. Nice wine.
