2005 Vincent & Denis Berthaut, Fixin Les Cras
Medium-plus red, perhaps starting to lose some of the colour of youth. The nose is lovely; invitingly deep, dark fruit with a hint of mineral. Mouthfilling, with excellent acidity and still slightly sticky but smooth tannin. There’s plenty of flavour here and a mineral length too. Drinking very well right now – I’m tempted to try some of the other cuvées. Lovely.
Rebuy – Yes

I love the labels – and the wines too – having drunk my way through most of the 2006s I bought. I’m very disappointed that I ran out of time to visit their Caveau in Fixin when I was there last month. We got to Fixin at lunch time, had a very nice lunch opposite the Clos Napoleon, but unfortunately they were even slower to come back from lunch and so we couldn’t see them in the afternoon. Next trip I think they may be No. 1 on the list of visits.

And that’s quite a nice restaurant too from what I remember Michael – like a Tardis – way bigger than you expect on the inside.
