Hi Bill!
Always interesting to read your “The Market”-posts.
I have noticed that the wines from Mme Leflaive have gotten pricier each year, on average 10-15%. Do you know if this is just on the merchant side or if any of this money eventually turns up in Mme Leflaives pockets? It would feel slightly better buying 25 E bourgogne blancs if one knew that it was the producer that reaped the benefits of the current market situation.

Hi David – I expect a bit of both.
That all merchants have wound-up their selling prices indicates to me that the base has been increased by the domaine – they also tightened up on who gets their wine from the 2006 vintage, supplying direct to much fewer merchants (in Europe) who would have to supply the others who previously sold.
So, yes the domaine sees more cash, but merchants selling based on a percentage markup will also be reaping more dividend.
Cheers, Bill
I just got the same offer from the same retailer again today – prices unchanged. I guess they didn’t sell out then – or perhaps they were successful and this is a second tranche!
Not certain it’s a second tranche! Recently received repeat Leflaive offer, UK buyers – village Puligny ’07 at 39.5stg (approx 64.80CHF), ’07 Clavoillons 48.50stg (80CHF)
Are those IB or delivered in UK though…(?)
