I’ll be interested in your findings. Did you buy the Giroud direct? I was there a few months ago (in fact, I believe you were there at the time to meet with David Croix briefly) and noticed a huge amount of back vintage wine.

    Hi Gavin,
Only one or two may be opened before the year’s end. All were bought from the same auction. Actually the Giroud label is quite different to what would be fixed today at the Giroud cellars – and I think a new design is also in the works…
    Sorry to have missed you!
    Cheers

Defnately a new label design in the offing but sadly nothing as splendid as the ’55 above…

Hi Bill, just saw that it is still possible to buy older vintage (1995 Grand Cru under Albert Bichot lable) and a (2000 1er Cru Clos Frantin) at a reasonable price. How was the quality from this producer at that time? Thanks, Alois

Phil – I hope to be able to remember opening it – I’ll probably take it along to harvest at the domaine 😉

Alois – From 2001 onwards I know Bichot/Frantin made wines I would buy (and have!), 2000 I’ve no data. Certainly the Frantin bottles were dreary under Bichot in the late 80’s, but my single datapoint from the pre-Bichot days of ’72 showed a super bottle.
