2005 Camille Giroud, Bourgogne Pinot Noir
A wide and ripe nose with red-shaded fruit – eventually a toffee note comes through too. On the palate there’s still some dissolved carbon dioxide – 2005 was the first year that David Croix didn’t rack during elevage. There’s good depth and balance and a very above average length for the appellation. A very easy re-buy choice, as blind you would think this at least a villages wine.
Rebuy – Yes

I agree completely – tasted twice before bottling this was very impressive for its level and I must remember to buy some myself. Did you buy/taste their ’05 Beaune 1er Les Avaux?
Hi David,
I tasted most of the range last summer, but they weren’t showing so well that day (phase of the moon!). Apart from this bourgogne I haven’t tasted any of the bottled wines – only the Grand Crus remained to be bottled last week.
Cheers
Is David Croix into all that fruit day moon-in-the-4th-quarter business?! I suppose he did train with Benjamin Leroux before Camille Giroud…
Not openly 😉
