   I am thoroughly enjoying your book. Great work!
   I am curious how/why you chose the Producers?
   It is obvious you chose to highlight Producers who may not be as visible, but you also include Producers who are iconic.

   No Digioia Royer, no Bachelet, no Mugneret-Gibourg, no Taupenot-Merme....

   I realize you acknowledge in the preface that there are many more Producers whom you could have featured.

   Just curious how/why you you decided whom to leave out.

   Once again, thanks again for your contribution.

   Hi Emile.
   I'm pretty sure I've written this elsewhere, but basically the number of domaines per village was determined by the volume of wine produced there. I thought a framework like this was the fairest approach. So effectively the number of domaines per village was calculated by:

   90 (total number of domaines) x volume of wine in village / volume for Côte d'Or = number of domaines for the village.

   All of which means places like Gevrey and Meursault got more domaines than Vosne, Chambolle, Auxey etc...

   So coming back to your question, which Chambolle domaine from de Vogüé, Mugnier, Roumier and Barthod (the formula above allows only 4) would you remove to add Digioia-Royer? - particularly as the range is rather narrow at D-R. Bachelet could easily have been in Gevrey I agree. Why Mugneret-Gibourg and not Grivot or Meo(?) And I think certainly Dujac would be ahead of T-M for adding into Morey, probably Perrot-Minot too once the style of the domaine has stabilised (changed about 2007).

   So, it's not so easy, I had many discussion with the publishers about my eventual list. I simply set out to try include the best (iconic), plus some up-and-coming / maybe more interesting domaines where you might actually have the chance to buy some wine ;-)

   Thanks, Bill!

   The formula per village is an interesting method.

   A friend assures me the oak has been scaled back at Perrot Minot in recent years. I will have to investigate.

   M-G, while not up and coming, is seemingly less in the spotlight than Grivot and Meo. The wines are certainly not as widely available as Grivot and Meo, and many people, believe it or not, are not familiar with M-G wines.

   Same goes for Dujac in MSD; much more glamourous and widely available Domaine than T-P. The negocianmt arm of Dujac amplifies awareness, of course, as well.

   Speaking of MSD, the best picture in the book is the Ponsot picture. "A picture speaks a thousand words" as they say!

   I wonder what the picture for Domaine Hubert Lignier would have looked like!
