Had a fantastic 1996 Sigaut Chambolle 1er Chatelots tonight. Concentrated, layered and very elegant. The only time I have seen this producer here in the US. What's the scoop on the wines? Based on this wine, I would certainly look for more. Also curious about thoughts on Chatelots - first time I have run into this 1er cru and it seems to have a very limited number of producers... thanks.

I've never had any of the Sigaut wines, but am a member of the Scott Paul Burgundy Club here in Oregon (www.scottpaul.com) -- they import the wines and you can buy direct from them. Scott Wright of Scott Paul made a village Chambolle-Musigny from Sigaut grapes in 2008, too, which I received through the club but have yet to try. From the Scott Paul website it looks like there are a number of wines available going back to 2006. Only Chatelots I've ever had is the Barthod -- excellent like all the Barthod 1ers in my opinion, though not my very favorite from them (usually that honor, for me, goes to Les Cras or Les Baudes).

Arlaud have a Chatelots to go with their Noirots & Sentiers. Think the vines are a fairly recent acquisition (last few years). Have a couple of bottles at home but not tried so far.

I had a 2006 of the same wine and it's lovely and reasonably priced for $35USD!
