Just to add my two pence whilst one may understand the loyal and constant, and this is not the only instance up and down the Cote, I have to question Dujac getting away with it. When Moillard did this the Gaudichots 0.2365 ha. was only a small bit of the total
(Malconsorts 2.7 ha.) at that time, now with Montille having 1.37 ha. and Dujac 1.33ha.
the proportions are much skewed, are the INAO powerless or complicit?

Claude, I bet Potel was none to pleased either.

Just to confirm Bill above -- Dujac received all of the Gaudichots that Thomas-Moillard disposed of and puts it in to the Malconsorts, following Moillard-Thomas's practice which provides the "loyal and constant" standard that Dujac will use as a defense if ever challenged by INAO on the Malconsorts labelling.

There was another member of the Thomas family that owned another part of Gaudichots, and that is the parcel that went to Régis Forey (much to the dismay of the former negociant who had been exploiting the fruit for some years).

Hi Emile - I'm not aware of Bouchard (Père?) getting any vines - I thought it was Dujac/de Montille who are exploiting all those (ex) Domaine Thomas vines - happy to learn otherwise though...

In the section on Les Gaudichots, Dujac owns 0.24ha but does not produce a version. Anyone knows what they do with their grapes?

I believe it is blended into their Malconsorts JT. I guess it follows 'loyal and consistent' use - Thomas/Thomas-Moillard did it for many, many years, and it is their Gaudichots and (some of) their Mallconsorts that Dujac now exploit...

I love the passion Allen imparts to the book, with his spiritual thrust, notably in his Introduction and in his conclusion. If I have a regret, it's in the overemphasis on DRC, which is increasingly being taken out of the reach of ordinary winelovers and well into millionaire's alley. But I hope this is only the first of many books on Burgundy from Allen.

Advance Will. You'll have to wait another week or two for Allen to sign your copy, mine is one of the rarer unsigned ones :o)
