A blend of Murgers and Vignes Rondes. There’s a layer of sous-bois to get through but below is good supporting fruit. In the mouth that fruit is ripe and sweet – nicely concentrated too. Tarry, staining flavours that are very long indeed. This needs a couple more years in the cellar but it’s frankly excellent.
Medium, medium-pale colour. Slightly smokey aromas followed by jammy elements. Medium weight and only late appearing tannins. Subtle length makes this wine quite nice.
The nose is slightly diffuse, a little spicy and shows traces of coffee. In the mouth this shows high-toned fruit, reasonable acidity and slightly forward, though not astringent, tannin. This finishes well but doesn’t seem all that ‘together’ despite decent ‘parts’.
