I’m sat in a lounge at the airport, and if you’re reading this, then the server-switch was a success – everything seems okay. Perhaps not a very challenging phase 1 then! Phase two is the database development, phase 3 is the implementation. I’ll get a few friends to roadtest (crash?) phase 3 as soon as it’s up and running – I’m thinking May… Now just 12 hours on a plane to Zürich to get through; it was Harry Potter and the goblet of fire on the way out, I wonder what civilisation advancing entertainment I’ll get on the return. The page on Burgundy’s grape varieties is finally up here – it was a busy week, so quite slow progress. Had a meeting with the developers for my tasting-note finder – sounds easy – I just need a new web-host, to develop something in .NET and update it with microsoft access. All very easy apparently… Now I go to China for 9 days hoping that nothing breaks down in the meantime! Cheers

Finally got the feed links sorted out (I think!) – they weren’t working before as they should. It’s possible to see the updates via ‘feedburner’ or by-far the easiest route – but only if you use Firefox – is by clicking the feed icon which appears on the browser’s address-line (when you view the Burgundy-Report homepage. This adds a link to the bookmarks that shows if the site has been updated – very elegant and easy. Must get back to writing about Burgundy’s 8 allowed grape varieties! Cheers

4th April 2006. I noted a problem with the mac browser that my older pages did not display correctly – seemingly not a problem with the index pages, or content pages from the ‘reports’ – but basically all the reference pages were implicated. So this is where I’m starting. The new main reference page is updated in the new index style. Content to follow. Cheers

Still haven’t managed 500 unique visitors in a day, but it’s getting closer – 463. It seems that readers are tasting-note junkies – these pages continue to draw that largest crowds, de Vogue continues it’s run as the most directly referred to page, whereas the equally ‘hard-work’ Hospices de Beaune feature has sunk without trace – maybe I should think again about doing something on the Hospice de Nuits! Included for the first time a note on the index page to the most interesting three wines of the previous months Cheers, Bill

The Spring Report is finally up and running. A look at ~100 wines from 2004, amongst notes on the DRC 2003′s, a focus on the village of Puligny, likewise a look at the trials and new prospects for Beaujolais and last but not least, a profile of the Clos du Tart and Maison Boisset plus all the usual stuff. Last week I enjoyed a nice Japanese lunch with Mr Martin and Mr Goode where we put the world to right and I drank tea – funny old world. Then the dastardly Mr Martin encouraged me to buy a bottle of 1991 Chambolle-Musigny – that was corked – bugger!
