Thanks for the pointer to these very two interesting articles Bill.
Thought the McInerney piece well written. Agree with the tasting notes of the Boillot Mouchere (assume its a 2007) and the P-Y C-M le Trezin although I’ve only tried the 2008 of the latter thus far.
Was intrigued to see Andrew Jefford’s reference :-
“Brian Franklin at Apsley Gorge in warmer eastern Tasmania makes bigger, more statuesque Pinots using rigorously Burgundian techniques”.
I met Brian briefly one evening in Oct 2008 at the end of my Arlaud vendange on a vist to Philippe Chalopin-Parizot’s (Herve Arlaud is a big mate of P C-P). Nice fella. He was working a stage in Burgundy & I believe imports Charlopin, Chateau de Pommard & Arlaud wines to Tasmania. His Aussie accent & rather fetching white rubber boots (akin to something from a slaughterhouse – he told me they were posh Tasmanian diving boots or something like that !!) stood out amongst the bee hive like activity of the Burgundians.
Have you tried the Marchand & Burch Pinots Bill – that is ‘the’ Pascal Marchand ?
MG
Hi Mark,
Not tasted any, but it’s definitely Pascal Marchand, you can see them together here.
Cheers
