St.Aubin Murgers des Dents de Chien

After the 2010 Bouton, this has a little brioche on the nose with higher-toned, faintly agrume fruit. There is more depth and concentration than apparent in the Bouton, if slightly less acidity – so there doesn’t seem to be quite the intensity – but there remains despite the extra richness, balance, and more to contemplate. Very good wine, but then it should be for twice the price of the Bouton 😉 Still an easy rebuy for me.

Pale colour. High-toned, fresh, crisp with a fain creamy depth to some herby fruit – rather engaging. Fresh, but not overly so. A decently silky texture and a very nice intensity in the mid palate. Slightly green-tinged fruit in the finish. Tip-top wine for the price.

Medium, lemon yellow. There is much depth to the nose and some toasted bread aspects too – this is a very good start. More depth and a little more tension after the Chatenière. I’d still like a little more zip, but this is a classier delivery. Nice wine, exceptionally priced.

The nose has quite subtle oak – a little toasted bread. Lovely freshness in the mouth, again with good intensity and a long, quite stony flavour.

Soft, vanilla accented aromas of fresh fruit. Just a little smoothness of texture, lovely flavours, slightly linear, with balanced intensity then a lingering finish. Few words, but alround excellent wine!

Medium golden colour. The nose is a blend of slightly musky, creamy Puligny style invitation and a much riper core of yellow fruit. In the mouth this has a good width that’s coupled to very good acidity – it seems with riper fruit flavours than in its youth. Grows a little in the mid-palate then slowly decays. It’s a lovely wine, but one I slightly preferred in its youth and would certainly prefer in another 5 or 6 years – ah c’est la vie! At least I can settle down and enjoy it for what it is.

A hint less floral, more depth of ripe fruit – still fresh. Minerals, stony flavour and lovely acidity that seems to flow over rocks in the finish. Yum!

The aromatics are understated, but complex and fine. If there’s some complexity on the nose, the flavours are tighter in the mouth, yet it’s silky, wide and has a lovely burst of interest in the mid-palate. Mineral flavours linger well. Up to the usual high standard!
