Nuits St.Georges Clos du Thorey

2006 Rodet Antonin Nuits St.Georges Clos du Thorey

A dark, spicy nose that’s set against high-toned, focused fruit. Plenty of tannin, but there’s vigour and flavour here – I like this a lot.

A wide nose of nicely maturing aromas mixed with earth. The palate is lithe, linear and of moderate length. It’s clean and quite interesting.

Medium-plus cherry-red. A wide and bright fruity nose supported by an earthy undercurrent. The palate is bold and concentrated with plenty of tannin that ends with a twist of bitterness. Good mid-palate density, and the fruit is not so bad. Almost good – particularly if you have the patience to leave this in the cellar for the next 5+ years.

A medium-plus ruby core fading only very slightly. The nose shows high tones and red raspberry/strawberry confiture, not bad at all. Good acidity and prominent grainy tannins. Big fruit and a touch of astringency on the finish. To be honest this is a bit unruly, perhaps it will get better with time. Young but needs to show a bit more class.

Medium depth colour – just starting to become ruby. High toned fruit – shaded to red – with a slightly roast character. Good attack on the palate, nice fruit and grainy tannins though I find the acidity a little harsh. Still needs time to settle down, but there’s very good length. Should be good.
