Again aromas of dark fruit. More concentrated but the tannin that comes with it is less fine – yet this is far from rustic and delivers very good intensity – very tasty.

2005 Guyot Olivier Marsannay La Montagne
Medium, medium-plus cherry-red colour. Modest higher tones over a tight core of dark fruit, swirling releases a little more spicy, leathery notes. Rather linear but very good fine tannin and slightly forward acidity. The flavour is mainly confined to the mid-palate and finish, but it’s quite intense if slightly metallic tasting, the finish is today average. This gives the impression that it has already tightened for slumber. There’s not that much to see today, I would leave for 5 or 6 years.
2002 Pataille Sylvain Marsannay La Montagne
Medium, medium-plus colour. Captivating cherry nose, red and black. Again there’s a very nice mouthfeel, the oak is doing a really super job here. This wine displays almost a cordial-essence aspect to the fruit. Good length. Delicious, I could drink this all day – very lovely – another purchase coming on(?)
